This is a pilot project that will exercise the concept of Pharmacom’s unified architecture of the national biodefense intelligence network. It is designed to be able to provide researchers and government intelligence officers with shared access to biosensor-generated data and microarray-based gene expression bioinformatics software. The researchers from any client site across the nation will be able to analyze their data, at their local labs, using genomics tools. Experimental results can be published to a centralized Oracle-based bioinformatics database, and the published data will be able to be analyzed on Pharmacom-hosted computing clusters. Another half of the pilot project is a biodefense-related proteomics database that is in development and will be hosted by Pharmacom. The proteomics database will hold terabytes of data received from mass-spectrometers, HPLCs and other instruments distributed around the nation.
