| The genomics era has brought forth a wealth of information that has revolutionized the way we do science and has had a large impact in drug discovery. One of the major bottlenecks we face at the moment is how to establish a link from the genomic information into function and relevance to disease. Pharmacom intends to integrate database mining, functional genomics, automation, and bioinformatics to assign function to novel targets. The effect of genotype on phenotype is poorly understood in the context of common diseases. However, this understanding promises novel genomic-based drugs, diagnostics tools, and preventive medicine. We are developing a comprehensive approach for the genetic dissection of common diseases by applying DNA pooling to large sample sizes from homogeneous populations. This allows high-throughput scanning of a large number of SNPs across the genome on several common diseases. | ||
